Twenty-Five Years of God's Faithfulness— One Church,
Many Places of Worship, One Unshakeable God

Miracle Centre Assemblies of God Church (UK) — affectionately known as MCAG (UK) — is an established church in the heart of the historic city of London and its environs. Across our four branches in Edmonton, Barking, Northolt, and Bedford, we welcome an average of 400 worshippers every Sunday — a multi-generational, multi-cultural church family bound together by one Saviour, one Spirit, and one shared story. This is that story.

WHO WE ARE

We are a Bible-based (2 Timothy 3:16) and Spirit-led (Romans 8:14) church family — committed to sharing Jesus with all nations, using our facilities to serve and fellowship with our wider community, and intentionally nurturing every member of the body. Children, youth, and families remain at the heart of all we hope to develop in the years ahead.

The Edmonton branch is the mother church — the original gathering that, over twenty-five years, has given birth to the three thriving branches that now stand alongside it in Northolt, Barking, and Bedford.

THE BEGINNING

AN ANSWER TO PROLONGED PRAYER

Miracle Centre Assemblies of God Church (UK) was formed in the year 2000 by Mr. Alexander Donkor (now Rev. Alexander Donkor) and his wife, Mrs. Pauline Donkor (now Rev. Mrs. Pauline Donkor), under the direct leadership and instruction of the Holy Spirit — following a prolonged period of seeking the face of the Lord in prayer and fasting.

What the Lord whispered in secret, He confirmed in public. What began as a personal conviction would, in time, grow into a church family of more than five hundred souls.

The inaugural meeting was held at Dalston Methodist School, with a small handful of believers forming the core membership of what would later become MCAG (UK).

What is rarely told is the personal cost of that first season. At the very moment the Donkors stepped out in obedience, their last-born son, Aaron, was just three months old. Their three older children — Esther, Joshua, and Abigail — though very young at the time, all played important roles in the life of the young church, just as they continue to do today. Joshua played the guitar. Abigail played the drums. Esther sang during services. It was a family answering a calling — and the Lord faithfully began adding to their number, week by week.

Deeply Rooted in Christ

A WILDERNESS JOURNEY.

The story of MCAG (UK)’s first two decades is, by any honest measure, a wilderness journey — a long, faithful pilgrimage from one place of worship to another in search of the permanent home God had promised.

Looking back, it is hard not to see in this season what the church itself has come to call “the journey of the Israelites through the desert before their arrival in the land of Canaan.”

Where it all began. A handful of believers, a young family, and a borrowed school hall. Within months, the long commute proved a barrier to attendance, and the search for a new place of worship began.

A new venue, but only briefly. The growing congregation moved here in pursuit of accessibility and continuity.

Another season. Another move. The church continued to grow despite the disruption of frequent transitions.

For seven precious years, Gaunson House was home — the longest single residency of the early MCAG story. It was here that the church experienced exponential growth — numerically, spiritually, and financially. Lives were transformed. Families were planted. Miracles became commonplace.

But at the end of 2010, the London Borough of Haringey requested that MCAG (UK) move out of Gaunson House. The borough had earmarked the area for demolition and redevelopment. These were turbulent days in the life of the church — and many faithful members, weary of the seemingly endless changes of venue, sadly chose to move on.

But the church marched on. As Jesus Himself had promised, “the gates of hell shall not prevail against it” (Matthew 16:18)

A short, painful season — but one in which God continued to perform miracles among His people. The Lord proved once again that He builds His Church in every season — even the hard ones.

Five years of regrouping, rebuilding, and growing. The church found firmer ground. Lives continued to be transformed. The miracle stories continued.

Another move. Another faithful season. And another step closer to the home God had reserved.

The final stop before the long-awaited breakthrough. It was at this venue that COVID-19 struck the world, plunging the nation — and the church — into the unprecedented uncertainty of national lockdown.

THE MIRACLE OF CUCKOO HALL LANE.

What the enemy meant for harm, God had purposed for our breakthrough.

It was in the very season when the world stood still — 2020 to 2021, in the very thick of the COVID-19 lockdown — that the Lord created the opportunity for MCAG (UK) to purchase its own auditorium at 11 Cuckoo Hall Lane, Edmonton.

After twenty years of moving from one borrowed space to another, the church was finally given a permanent home — not in a season of ease, but in a season when no one could even gather in person. The timing was unmistakably God’s. The wilderness years had ended. The land of promise had come.

Cuckoo Hall Lane today stands as the mother church of MCAG (UK) — a tangible monument to the unbroken faithfulness of God.

“Raising a Godly Generation, Empowered by the Spirit, Impacting the World with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”

THE CHURCH AS IT IS TODAY.

From a handful of believers in a Methodist school hall to a multi-branch church family across the United Kingdom, MCAG (UK) today comprises:

  • The mother church at Cuckoo Hall Lane, Edmonton
  • MCAG Northolt
  • MCAG Barking
  • MCAG Bedford

Current membership: approximately 500 people across all four branches. Average weekly attendance: approximately 400 worshippers.

Our congregation is a wonderful blend of children, youth, and adults — a generational balance that ensures progressive, healthy transitions from one age bracket to the next. We are neither too young nor too old. We are, by God's grace, in good hands.

25+ YEARS OF FAITHFULNESS

Looking back across two and a half decades, the conclusion is inescapable: MCAG (UK) has had a chequered history. The frequent moves from one place of worship to another stand as evidence enough of the spiritual, logistical, and emotional hurdles the church has had to overcome. Yet within that chequered history is the unmistakable fulfilment of God’s own promise:

“I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”Matthew 16:18

The Church has marched on — both spiritually and physically — and has conquered territories for the Lord. In spite of the challenges, difficulties, and hindrances MCAG (UK) has faced over the years, the Lord Jesus Christ has sustained us through it all. This is the testimony of our first 25 years — years of healing, divine inspiration, and leadership.

And the church still marches on…
